How much are you paying your agent? Most companies have NO idea - why because they have not asked and because the commission is buried in your company’s monthly insurance premium. 

How do you know if you are getting your monies worth? You know what you are paying your CPA and Lawyer, why not your insurance agent, the person who advises you on the second largest line term in your budget AND is the carrier you are using for your benefits the best carrier for your business? You assume so, totally dependent on what your agent has explained; however that same agent is paid by the insurance company.

Logic would say, “Is the agent given a higher payout or bonus if they have more business with one carrier over another?”  Ask to see how the agents business is distributed over all the available carriers in your area - this alone will tell the story.  If one insurance company has a significant portion of the agency’s business, you may have a problem.
